Trulia Design Panel

We understand that finding a home often requires a lot of trade-offs, whether it’s the house or neighborhood. Since it’s much easier to fix the house than the neighborhood, we put together the Trulia Design Panel, our expert group of interior designers and professional organizers to provide buyers and renters with home décor advice to help them make their house a home.

Layne Brookshire

Ms. Placed

Layne Brookshire is the founder of Ms. Placed Professional Organizing in Austin, Texas. A Texas native, Layne first launched her business as a personal assistant and organizer while living in Santa Barbara, California. For 3 years, her business thrived completely on word-of-mouth referrals from her high-end clientele, as she organized and decluttered their spaces to promote functional, stress-free environments. She quickly realized that people innately desire to live in organized homes, but often lack the time or knowledge to implement the necessary changes in their lives.

The move back home to Austin presented the perfect opportunity for Layne to combine her passion and experience to create a personalized luxury service for busy individuals, bringing order, function, and freedom from anxiety into the lives and homes of her clients. She commits herself to learning her client’s spaces, routines, and needs to create customized solutions to best fit their lifestyle.

Layne’s passion for order stems from her continual experiment to streamline her world by removing both physical and mental obstacles. Her attraction to mindfulness, meditation, and self-growth equips her to work with individuals seeking similar life improvements. Simply put, she loves making life easier. Think peaceful, productive, and clutter-free.

Ms. Placed Professional Organizing offers DIY, Hands-On, and Virtual Organizing services. She shares some of her favorite organizing tips on on Austin’s lifestyle show, Studio 512 TV, where she is a regular guest. She also co-hosts a Facebook group for women launching professional organizing businesses, offering one-on-one virtual business coaching.

When she’s not working with clients she’s obsessively surfing the web for useful life-hacks, learning how to propagate succulents in her home, attempting to survive and succeed in hot yoga, and spending time with her family and two dogs. Her favorite words to live by: the opposite of impulse is intention.

Hannah Crowell

Crowell & Co.

Crowell & Co. was established on the foundation that form and function needn’t supersede the another. We believe life, as messy and unpredictable as it may be, can be both stylish and accessible. Where the clean lines of modernity intersect with the rough hewn edges of that hundred-year-old one-of-a-kind piece. Where flora and art and books and peculiar knickknacks are as much apart of the home’s identity as the paint colors, wallpaper, tile and fixtures. We aspire for greatness in every aspect of our projects, big to small. The goal at our firm is to allow for your life to happen as it will, but to make it as artful and colorful and comfortable a place possible for it all to unfold within. To never just do the same old thing, but rather create something new and unique and personal. Working with a diverse list of clients collaboratively to create an open, hands-on visual dialogue that speaks to who you are, how you live and what’s important to you. There is a beauty in the imperfect, the messy and the controlled chaos of life. Crowell & Co. embraces those things, refining and editing it all to create the place you can’t wait to come home to.

As a little girl I played with color and design, helping my dad mix and create color in his paint store. I watched closely as my parents remodeled homes and knew that is what I wanted to do. I’ve been transforming spaces ever since. After getting my degree, I worked for Denton House in Salt Lake City. My husband and I relocated to Orange County, where I started designing Model homes for large developments. For a while I stopped designing and had 2 of my 4 children. Later, my husband and I started a business staging homes, which motivated me to focus on residential design. From kitchen makeovers, to new builds, I’m passionate about the environments I create. Simple, clean, elegant are words that inspire me every day. I hope you enjoy exploring my projects and some of my favorite finds along the way.
